Misleading Previews

Every once and awhile, I see a movie that is NOTHING like the previews indicated it would be. This latest was "Country Strong." I feel like I need to see the entire thing again, just so that this time I can actually watch it and enjoy it for what it is (because I thought it WAS a good movie) instead of spending an hour and twenty waiting for it to become the movie I was lead to believe it would be.

I mean, the previews were all "She's down and out! Some upstart country bitch is putting her down! She has to start all over again! But then she triumphs and shows the upstart what's what!!"

Um, no.

It's a snapshot of her life, a bad part. The "upstart" is a sweet thing trying to make her own start, and the movie is arguably not even about Gwyneth Paltrow's character Kelly, but about Beau, played by Garrett Hedlund. Which, again, is fine, but it's annoying to be misled. If you don't think people will come to your movie unless you trick them, you have a problem, even if in this case, they didn't.

I do still recommend it, just do what you (and I) should do anyway- take it for what it is, not what you think it will be.
